Deuteronomy 27-28

“Unkindly has He kindly shown me… God.”
John Piper wrote these words in his long poem on the life of Job, and they apply in a slightly different way to our reading for this week. God is so kind that He will not allow His creatures to go their own way and find real satisfaction in other pursuits than Him. He is the greatest Good, so all other pursuits fall short and offer less-than-ideal satisfaction.
Even though God’s actions sometimes seem harsh, He is always at work to draw straying people back to Himself. If they come, they will find blessing and rest and joy beyond belief.
Here are questions for this week’s reading.
