Deuteronomy 12-15

In these chapters God confronts His people with idolatry – loving other things more than Him, and we see God’s intense hatred for this sin. God is a jealous God; He will stand for no rivals, and this is perfectly right for Him to do because He has no rivals. He is a God without equal! So for human beings to love and pursue and cherish something else more than Him is the height of arrogance and rebellion against Him.
But we also see God’s heart of compassion and care in these chapters. He is a God who looks after and provides for the needy and for His own people.
